Jon Marlow is the Director of ProAnd Associates in Sydney, Australia. In the IWBP project, Jon will examine the role that Public Private Partnerhips (PPPS) can play in promoting the expansion of value-added wood processing in PNG.
Jon has 37 years experience in the production, wholesale and retail sectors specialising in meat and leather products. He is an expert on issues such as food safety, product description, distribution, product integrity, marketing and supply chain costs.
Jon worked in Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, serving initially as Team Leader and then as Technical Director for the DFiD funded Growth & Employment is States GEMS1 project. Since October 2015 he has worked as Country Representative for the Australian Aid funded Market Development Facility (MDF) project in Pakistan. He has undertaken training in the M4P approach and now has direct experience applying the approach in Nigeria and Pakistan.
Simon Dorries is the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Forestry Standard Ltd (AFS) and has been appointed to a Monitoring and Evaluation role for the IWBP project.
Simon brings a wealth of relevant knowledge and experience to the project and is currently Chair of Standards Australia Committee Engineered Wood Products (TM-011). He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and has worked in the forest and wood products industry for over 32 years, commencing as a cadet with the Plywood Association of Australia in 1985. Simon stayed with the Plywood Association for 30 years through a number of name changes to eventually become General Manager of the Engineered Wood Products Association of Australasia (EWPAA).
Simon has significant experience in: developing product certification systems, compliance testing and assessment, delivering education and training across the wood products sector, product development, and standards development.
Jo Roberts is a Director of Strategy, Evaluation and Engagement for Development Pty Ltd and consultant monitoring and evaluation specialist, who works across many sectors in international development, including forestry and natural resource management.
Jo brings a wealth of relevant knowledge and experience to the project where she has been engaged to support the design of monitoring and evaluation and implementation of gender equality processes.
Jo's professional career-- initially as a resource inventory and plantation management forester in Victoria, then in Australian national Forestry Policy and now in M&E for International Development-- has spanned 36 years and assignments in over ten countries, particularly Australia and Papua New Guinea. She lives on a farm near Jindabyne, NSW and, with her partner, manages a native forest and a herd of black cows.
